Building 137

Building 137, in the shadow of  Observation Hill, is an older NSF housing facility, now unused. I was interested in the building because it is one of the oldest looking buildings at McMurdo, and dates from early in the station development when under Navy control. I’m guessing that it’s an early 1960’s building, and is very similar to the CosRay building which houses the oldest continuously running experiment at McMurdo. Building 137 was off limits to photography inside, so the only images I have are of the exterior.

Edit – Elaine Hood, who works for the US Antarctic Program, informs me that this building dates from 1964.
