Four flights and 30 hours later and I’m in Punta Arenas in far southern Chile. From what little I’ve seen of the town I like it. It’s a port city on the Straits of Magellan, so a lot of boats and shipping comes through and past the city. For the first night I’m in a hotel in the city center on the Plaza de Armas. Tomorrow morning we head to the Lawrence M. Gould icebreaker for ECW gear issue, extreme cold weather gear, and some training, and I find out where I’ll be living for the next couple weeks. Exhausted, only a couple hours sleep on the red eye from Miami to Santiago Chile last night. Red Eye’s are named that for a reason. Will check back in after I’m settled on the LMG.
