Day 1 on the Southern Ocean

We left Punta Arenas at 3 am this morning, traveled east through the Straits of Magellan and have now made the turn south toward Tierra Del Fuego and Antarctica. The weather has been excellent, calm, mostly sunny and mild with temps in the 40’s. Boat motion (so far) isn’t bad, but then, we aren’t in the Drake Passage yet. Have seen a Commerson Dolphin and just now several Southern Giant Petrels following the LMG.
